Contacts and Overview
Great Valley Middle School is a member of the PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) and is subject to the guidelines and principles set forth by this governing organization. Locally we are a member of the CHES-MONT League and PIAA's District One. Great Valley offers 15 sports for students in grades 7-8.
Eligibility
In order to participate in any extracurricular activity, students must meet certain academic requirements. Any student with a combination of the criteria below will be ineligible to participate the following week. Academic eligibility for all extracurricular activities will be checked weekly. All athletes must meet both school requirements and PIAA requirements for their particular sport.
- Two or more failing Academic (E) in core subjects or
- An Academic (E) and a Quality of a Learner (U) in core subjects (provided the U is not for the same subject the student is currently earning the E) or
- An Academic (E) in a core subject and a Quality of a Learner (U) in an elective or
- Quality of a Learner (U) in two different electives
ATTENDANCE: If an athlete is not in school by 11:00AM, he/she may not participate or practice in any athletic events on that day.
Activity Fee
The activity fee is $95.00 for all athletes who participate in a Middle School sport. Activity fees should be paid by check or PaySchools Central before practice and/or tryouts begin. Checks (payable to GVSD) can be brought to the main office prior to the start of the season. Activity fees can be paid via PaySchools Central. No student will be permitted to participate on any athletic team without fully completing the above requirements.
